Privacy Policy

Effective October 25, 2026

The short version: we collect what it takes to run FiberMarkup for your company, we use it only for that, we do not sell it or use it for advertising, and there are no analytics or tracking scripts in the Service. The details are below.

1. Who we are and what this covers

FiberMarkup (“we”, “us”) provides FiberMarkup, software that fiber construction companies use to mark up plan sheets, track footage, manage locate tickets and invoice their work. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the FiberMarkup website at fibermarkup.com, the web application, and the iOS and Android apps (together, the “Service”), and what we do with it.

FiberMarkup is sold to businesses. When a company (a “Customer”) puts information about its employees, projects and work into the Service, we process it on that company’s behalf and under its instructions — the company decides who has an account and what is kept. If you use FiberMarkup through your employer, your employer’s own policies also apply, and questions about your account are best sent to your company’s FiberMarkup administrator first.

2. Information we collect

Account information

Your name, work email address, company, and role (such as admin, manager, field or viewer). Your password is stored only as a salted bcrypt hash, never in readable form. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we store its secret and your backup codes. We also record whether you have confirmed your email address.

What your company puts into the Service

Plan sheets and other files your company uploads, and everything added to them: markup, callouts, measurements, sign-offs, assignments, notes, projects, locate ticket details (ticket numbers, locations, dates and notes), invoice details, notifications, and links shared from the Service. Each change records which User made it and when.

Location, only during a walk you start

The app can measure a cable run by recording a walk with your device’s GPS. Location is used only while you are recording a walk that you started, and only after you give your device’s location permission. The recorded route (a series of latitude and longitude points), its accuracy and its start and end times are saved with the sheet it was recorded on, where other Users in your company can see it. We do not track location in the background or at any other time. You can turn off location access in your device or browser settings at any time; everything else in the app keeps working.

QuickBooks Online, if your company connects it

If a Customer administrator connects QuickBooks Online (from Intuit Inc.), we store the access tokens Intuit issues, encrypted, along with the QuickBooks company’s ID, name and home currency and the product or service chosen for invoice lines. To raise invoices we read your QuickBooks customer list and products and services when you choose from them; we keep only the customer you invoice and that customer’s display name, not the list. We create invoices and record payments in QuickBooks when a User asks us to, and we read back — and receive notices from Intuit about — the number, total, balance and payment status of invoices raised through FiberMarkup. We do not access other QuickBooks data, such as bank accounts, payroll or reports. Disconnecting removes the stored tokens and revokes our access.

Contact form

If you ask for a demo through our website, we receive your name, company, email address, number of crews and your message. These are emailed to our sales inbox; they are not stored in the Service.

Activity and technical information

The Service keeps an activity log of actions taken in each Customer account — for example, opening, editing, exporting, signing off or sharing a sheet, changing an invoice, or changing a User’s access — with the User and the time. Your company’s administrators can see this log. Your IP address and basic request details are used when you connect, to keep the Service secure and to limit repeated failed sign-ins; we do not store IP addresses in the Service’s database, though our hosting providers keep standard server logs for a limited time.

Stored on your device

To keep you signed in, the app stores a session token in your browser’s or device’s local storage. To work without a signal, it keeps copies of sheets you have opened and any changes waiting to sync on your device.

3. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and the Service contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The website loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request (see Google’s privacy policy).

4. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • provide the Service: store and display your company’s sheets and work, total footage, produce reports and invoices, and sync changes across devices;
  • sign you in and protect accounts, including two-factor authentication, limits on repeated attempts and, where enabled, virus scanning of uploaded files on our own servers;
  • send the emails the Service depends on: confirming your address, invitations with a temporary password, links someone has shared with you, and notifications about work assigned to you or waiting for your sign-off;
  • connect to QuickBooks at your company’s direction, as described above;
  • answer support requests and demo enquiries; and
  • meet legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your company’s content to train artificial intelligence models. We do not send marketing email to Users of the Service.

5. Who we share information with

Inside your company. Other Users in your company’s account can see information according to the roles your administrators assign, and administrators can see the activity log.

Service providers. We use these companies to run the Service. They process information only on our behalf, to provide their service to us:

  • Railway — application hosting and database (United States);
  • Amazon Web Services — storage of uploaded files, encrypted at rest (United States);
  • Vercel — hosting of the website and web app;
  • Postmark — delivery of the Service’s emails;
  • Google — font delivery for the website, as described above; and
  • Apple and Google — distribution of the mobile apps through their app stores, under their own privacy policies.

QuickBooks. Only if your company connects it: invoice and payment details are sent to Intuit to create and update invoices in your company’s own QuickBooks account. Intuit’s privacy policy governs how Intuit handles them.

Legal reasons and business changes. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our customers, Users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.

6. How we protect information

Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Uploaded files are encrypted at rest in storage, QuickBooks access tokens are encrypted in our database, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access inside each company is limited by role, and actions are recorded in the activity log. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify affected Customers and Users as the law requires.

7. How long we keep information

  • Account information and your company’s content are kept while your company’s account is active, or until your administrators delete them.
  • A deleted file can be recovered for 30 days; after that its stored copies are permanently removed. The record of the markup made on it stays in your company’s history unless an administrator asks us to remove it too.
  • The activity log is kept for the life of your company’s account, because it is the record that settles questions about who did what and when.
  • When a Customer’s account ends, we delete or de-identify its content within 90 days of the end of the export period described in our EULA, except for information we must keep by law. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.
  • Demo enquiries are kept in our email for as long as the conversation needs them.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy of it, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have these rights under those laws, and we will not treat you differently for using them. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Because Customers control the information in their accounts, we may refer a request about that information to your company’s administrators, and help them respond. To make a request, email support@fibermarkup.com. We will need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and you may use an authorized agent if they can show they act for you. We respond within 45 days.

9. Children

FiberMarkup is a work tool for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Where information is processed

We are based in the United States, and the Service is hosted there. If you use it from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Changes to this policy

We will post any update here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will email each Customer’s administrators before it takes effect.
